Accessible Voice Adaptation Capability

Changes Background:

The current KYC identity verification process primarily relies on visual guidance (e.g., text prompts, interface icons, document illustrations), which poses significant accessibility barriers for visually impaired users, including those who are blind or have low vision.

To provide an accessible KYC verification experience for visually impaired users, voice guidance will be used as a substitute for visual guidance, ensuring they can independently complete the document capture process and improving overall user experience.

Change Time:

The change is planned to begin in May 2026, with an estimated completion by June 2026.

Change Scope:

  • Product: Real ID & IDR
  • Platform: Native (iOS, Android, HarmonyOS)

Change Details:

To make your operations more convenient, if you have a screen reader enabled on your device (such as VoiceOver on iOS or TalkBack on Android), the system will automatically switch to voice guidance mode during identity verification, providing audio instructions to guide you through each step.

Special Notes:

Due to current system environment compatibility limitations, HarmonyOS users are currently limited to Chinese and English voice guidance, and this feature is only available in Mainland China.

Change Impact:

  • If you have a screen reader enabled: You will hear clear voice instructions to assist you through the verification process.
  • If you do not have a screen reader enabled: The verification process will remain in the standard visual interface and will not be affected.
